My Wife and I enjoy the four seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall. I would have to say spring is probably our favorite, since that is when we get the flower beds ready for the summer. We also prepare the vegetable beds. I am the vegetable person and my Wife is the flower person, which makes it a good match.
Today I looked at what seeds I have and when I need to start preparing. Some of the seeds can go out now and some need to be planted indoors until they sprout then planted outside. Since last year we were not able to plant a vegetable garden I will have to prepare the soil. Which is my favorite part, I just love turning the soil over and getting it ready for the spring planting. Which I do it by hand, My Wife thinks I am nuts doing it by hand but for me it relaxes me and keeps my mind active. Turn on some jazz music, shovel, rake and fork in hand and I will be in my own world for hours.
Working in the garden reminds of life in general, the time up put into will reap many rewards. After planting I have to maintain the garden, keep it watered, feed it and get rid of the weeds. As for your life you have to eat, drink water and see a doctor to get rid of the weeds. As long as you keep up the maintance you will reap the rewards. I could get really deep in this but I think you get the point.
The food you get from your garden is so much better than food you buy at the store, I just wish we were able to can. Someday I am going to have to learn how to can. Now I know which seeds to start all I need to do is go to the store and pick up some biodegradable pots and watch them grow for a great fall harvest.
Until next time
EJ
