Today’s blog is about a book I am currently reading. I just finished “Thinking for a Change” by John C. Maxwell, which by the way is my favorite author. The book I am currently reading is called “Seize The Day” 7 Steps to Achieving the Extraordinary In and Ordinary World by Dr. Robert Schuller.
According to Dr. Schuller there are 7 steps which are:
1. Your Moment of Truth: Selecting the Desired Rewards
2. Developing Strengths
3. Planning for Performance
4. Launching the Plan
5. Problem-solving: Expecting the Unexpected
6. Keeping Morale High
7. Your Personal Plan for Growth
Dr. Schuller starts step one with a powerful statement he says “The quality of our lives is a direct result of the choices we make.” This is very true; I have heard statements similar to that one but never really thought about it before. Thinking back to some of the mistakes or wrong choices I made and how it has affected me and is a real eye opener. I must say I have never made the same mistake twice which means I have learned from my mistakes. Learning from mistakes or choices you make takes a kind of person who is willing to improve themselves as a better person. These days the competition is fierce and good choices are almost a most. Not only in work but also outside of work, showing your best 24/7 is something people are looking for.
Dr. Schuller also calls the seven steps the high-performance process, doing the 7 steps day in and day out. I would call that being persistence and being consistence. If you have goals, have them written down and everyday you are persistent on achieving them and stay consistent with the goals, you will achieve them. Completing your goals is such a satisfied feeling and it really gives you confidence.
Are your goals written down? Would you like to be a high-performance person? Aim high with your goals and never give up, no matter what your goals are.
Until next time
