IBD flare up

I am not sure where this blog is going to take me but I have decided to blog about my gut and information I can find about the gut.

Let me bring you up to speed. I am currently in my 40's and back when I was a senior in High School I was diagnosed with ulcertive colitis. I received treatment and things got better. After I turned 18 got a job and did not have medical insurance I started to have another flare up. I thought was not that bad, until I weighed my self and saw how much weight I did lose. I don't remember all the details but somehow I received medical attention from a doctor and got the correct medication. Then after finding a better job with medical insurance I was able to get regular treatments. That would make me in my mid twenties at this point. From my mid twenties to my forty's I only had minor flare ups and by watching what I ate I was able to control it, until recently.

For a week I put up with the symptoms thinking they would go away eventually which they did not. I was at work and had to call an ambulance to come for me, (there is a reason I called an ambulance). To make a long story short and not to get into details about the symptoms. I received medication and started to see a specialist.

I guess the real reason for the blog is the frustration of knowing what to eat. I just am not sure, what I thought was safe to eat is not and vise versa. I do plan to see a Nutritionist, just so I can some kind of a grip on my eating habits. I am also thinking about eating more during the day rather than 3 large meals. I am off work for 2 weeks which has been very helpful, especially with trying to eat more smaller meals, which seems to be working.

I really like to be able to connect with other people who also have IBD, so we can share ideas and just be a support for each other when we do have flare ups or just feeling a little down. So please feel free to respond to this blog I would be glad to hear from you.
